Next, I wondered how the Chinese maze pattern  might look with a mid-line throughout, and was struck by the result as being almost identical to the classical Irish motif, as illustrated in this figure.

This maze is  less-coiled than the example derived from the Oriental pattern shown on the previous page. Variations can be produced by winding the path around more or fewer times, or by introducing more than one branch in the path. The narrower the path, the more room there is for  elaboration.
